Jamaica - January 7, 2017

First full day in Jamaica!
{Beach, New Sister, & Community Center}

Beach -

We woke-up to have breakfast ready at 10:00am.  For our meal we had eggs, bread and butter, mandarin oranges, plantains, and orange juice. I tried the plantains, but was not a fan.  You have to remember, I'm a picky eater to began with.  But I challenged myself to try everything while I was in Jamaica to embrace the culture.  The bus picked us up at 10:45, then we headed to Bluefield Beach.  It's a local beach in the area.  We played Marco Polo with everyone.  It was great to talk to Aneif and just ask him questions about his love for Jamaica.  He was very willing to help us understand the Jamaican lifestyle.  We enjoyed the water, then the mama's cooked us lunch.  We had jerked chicken and pork, festival (fried break), vegetables, and pasta salad.  The food was wonderful.  Then, we headed back to the beach. We enjoyed taking pictures.  Let me just say that we are all professional models now! Haha!! It was a good time.  We even saw our house brothers!  We left the beach around 4:00pm, and the bus dropped us off back at our houses.

New Sister -

We showered and had dinner. The meal was three yam soup. It was actually really good! Jeffery gave the boys the game Tapple. I had never heard of the game before, but the boys loved it.  He moved to Mama Jay's across the street, and Ashley moved in with Sydney and me.  Ashley was sad because she loves Mama Jay because that is where she stated last year, but I was happy to have a new sister.  We played Tapple with the boys and laughed a lot before we left for our evening outing.

Community Center -

The bus picked us up at 7:00pm to go to the community center when we played a game of musical chairs (I got third) and learned some Jamaican dances.  My favorite was the shampoo dance.  It was definitely a fun time. The center had wifi, so I got to update my family with my adventures so far and keep my snap streaks alive.  We finally headed home around 10:00pm.  All in all the first full day in Jamaica was a success.
